    Wrasse, a green alternative for sea lice removal?

    Programmes are underway at MERL on the development of wrasse as cleaner fish for the control of sea lice on salmon. Wrasse are being used in commercial production cycles in Scotland and Norway as part of integrated pest management.

    Mairi Cowan, a PhD student from the University of Striling has recently completed a study at our marine facilities on the use of light technologies in the ongrowing of Atlantic cod. The effects of light on fish maturity and welfare were studied.
